Only a twenty minute walk from the hotel Le Marcel Paris Gare de l’Est is the most charming district of Paris. Montmartre is indeed one of the most endearing places of the capital. This small world dominates the city from the top of its hill with a wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower.

Discover the Sacré Coeur Basilica in Roman-Byzantine style by climbing the 222 steps separating it from Saint-Pierre square or take the funicular to keep your energy to visit the alleys around. You will find the caricaturists of the place of Terter who can paint your portrait. Take a stroll along the cobblestone streets, crossing the small gardens which mark out the facades of the mansions and small buildings on this hill.

The artist center

Montmartre is a paradise for artists and many people have lived there. In addition to the neighborhood bistros and small shops, you can discover the Dali Museum or the houses where painters, singers and writers lived. The Impressionist Camille Pissaro lived in l’Abreuvoir street, while Renoir was in the « allée des brouillards ».

Discover the beautiful Dalida square where a bronze bust stands, not far from his house in the Orchampt street. By the way, you can admire near one of the last mills of the mound converted into a restaurant. Another essential passage is the Marcel Aymé square, where one can admire a reproduction of the hero of his new « passe-muraille »

Visit Montmartre by touristic train

It is possible to visit the neighborhood by the touristic train, an attraction that will please the younger ones with a 40-minute commented tour and a possible stop at the Place du Tertre at the top of the hill. Practical to see the typical places of Montmartre such as the charming cabaret Lapin Agile, the cemetery Saint Vincent or the Halle Saint-Pierre of style Second Empire. The departure is at the foot of the district in front of the Moulin Rouge.
